Explore Volunteering Opportunities for Students

Get involved, give back, and grow with our exciting student volunteering programs through the Shiner Chamber of Commerce. Students from 9th to 12th grade for the 2024-2025 school year can dive into the community by joining the Youth Action Team (YAT).

Youth Action Team

This program encourages students to (9th -12th Grade for the 2024 – 2025 school year) to experience hands-on participation in community events sponsored by the Shiner Chamber of Commerce.

Each student that chooses to participate will receive credit towards the eligibility of a scholarship in their senior year. This will be a calendar year opportunity that begins every January and continues through December. Students are responsible for downloading the YAT application from our website and keeping documentation of the hours they have volunteered at any Chamber of Commerce event. Students are asked to check back for the dates and times of these volunteer opportunities as events occur. The Chamber hosts several events that bring our community together and highlight our chamber members and their businesses.

As students complete their hours for the program, the accumulated hours will be considered when applying for the Shiner Chamber of Commerce Scholarship that is available when they are a senior. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Shiner Chamber of Commerce.

Class of ’25 Senior Scholarship Award

The Shiner Chamber of Commerce sponsors scholarship opportunity for Seniors that reside in the Shiner Independent School District. Attached you will find the qualifications and application. This scholarship opportunity acknowledges all youth who choose to participate and learn about civic responsibilities through the Shiner Chamber of Commerce. The scholarship recipients will be announced in late spring and honored with a scholarship recipient dinner.

Participation in the Youth Action Team is a prerequisite for the senior scholarship.
